The range of festivals can vary greatly, starting from art exhibitions to gastronomic feasts. A beer festival is a common event. The most famous one in the world is Oktoberfest.
In 2012, Brooklyn founded its own beer festival. Find out more at brooklynski.
Festival on the waterfront
The first festival took place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, at 5 North 11th Street on the waterfront. Since then, the fest has been held several times a year as a tasting event.
Hand Crafted Tasting Co. was the organizer of the event.
Each year, Brooklyn Brew Fest offers no less than 150 varieties of American craft beer and other styles from 75 breweries.
The arrangement of such events is actually a very complex process. In addition to beer, attendees also require snacks and entertainment. In Brooklyn, local establishments, as well as those from neighboring boroughs and even other cities, were responsible for the refreshments at the beer festival. For example, Sheep Station, The Brooklyn Star, Cornelius and Morris Grilled Cheese are some of them.
Educational aspect
Most festivals include a cultural and educational component. Some focus on art, while others highlight culture and traditions. In fact, a beer fest also presents the culture of consuming alcoholic beverages and the knowledge of sommeliers. Each year, Brooklyn Brew Fest invited craft beer experts. Craft beer is a beer produced in small home breweries without large industrial machines and equipment.
These seminars were usually private for no more than 50 people and required any prior registration or reservation.
Such festivals also serve as an advertising platform. Each beer producer had their own stand and a representative from their company at the festival. These individuals held additional presentations and consultations for consumers. After all, a random festival guest could potentially become a small bulk buyer in the future.

To make some money, festivals charge guests a fee. Brooklyn Brew Fest offers people three payment options – regular, VIP and Connoisseur. Holders of VIP and Connoisseur tickets had the privilege to get into the festival an hour earlier, be the first to taste the beer without waiting in line, have a chat and get to know representatives of breweries. This is particularly good for people who do not like or avoid large crowds.
Guests with VIP and Connoisseur tickets are offered the best locations with a view of the East River and rare beer varieties. Investing in the beer fest, everyone remained ultimately satisfied.
There is another beer festival in New York, but it couldn’t surpass the Brooklyn one. But each found their people. On the festival’s website, there is a detailed map on how to get to the event by public transport or car.
How to behave at the beer festival
You can find hundreds of beer varieties at beer fests. The primary goal is to make you try everything. That’s why guests should not take full glasses of beer right away because they may not like its taste. It is better first to try a little bit and not forget about snacks.
Snacks not only absorb alcohol but also help to cleanse the taste buds so that you can feel a new beer variety.
Do not forget the main rule of any alcohol fest – water is our friend! Drinking water helps to cope with intoxication, rinse the mouth, and simply quench the thirst after eating salty and spicy snacks.
It is not worth abusing the products that are offered at beer fests, as there you can find a lot of intriguing things besides beer. New acquaintances, music. But heavy intoxication can ruin the whole experience. The best way to drink alcohol is to know when enough is enough!
